From Stigma to Strength, Fear to Freedom

The Association of Intersex Parenthood (AIP) - Kenya is a national organization uniting parents, caregivers, and intersex persons to champion equal rights and create a safe, supportive community.

Our Mission

To advance the rights of intersex persons by recognizing the crucial role of parents and caregivers, ensuring families have constant access to vital support services.

Our Vision

A free, equal, and safe society where all intersex persons, their children, parents, and caregivers are empowered and enjoy full human rights and dignity.

Community Support

Understanding the Journey

Intersex people are born with sex characteristics that don't fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies. This natural human variation is still met with profound ignorance and prejudice.

Human Rights Violations

Many face medically unnecessary surgeries without consent, infanticide, and lifelong discrimination in education, health, and employment.

Stigma & Isolation

A lack of awareness fuels stigma, leading to exclusion, threats, and violence against intersex individuals and their families.

Inaccessible Healthcare

Necessary medical tests and procedures are often prohibitively expensive, leaving many without the care and understanding they need.

The 2019 Kenya Census recorded 1,524 intersex persons.

This was a historic step, but the fight for recognition, rights, and respect is far from over. Each number represents a human story deserving of dignity.

The Triple N Marathon: Our Response

An innovative event intertwining the nurturing of human diversity with the nurturing of our planet. We run to celebrate nature in all its forms.

Running for a cause

Nurture Nature Naturally

This theme is a call to action: to accept intersex people as a natural part of human diversity and to protect the environment we all share. Our goal is to plant 1,524 trees—one for every intersex person officially recognized in Kenya—as a living symbol of our commitment.
